As you know, the Ed-Fi Summit has become our primary in-person event, connecting our Community over three days of sessions, keynotes and networking opportunities. Based on our 25% year-over-year growth and the overwhelming positive feedback we receive from Summit attendees we know this is an event that many Ed-Fi Community members look forward to each year.
However, the nationwide responses and actions to slow the spread of COVID-19 have created a new operating environment and have led us to carefully consider moving forward with planning and hosting in-person events in 2020.
There are as many reasons to continue to host the event as there are to put it on hold for this year. We are considering the health and safety of our Community, budget restrictions due to financial consequences of the nationwide shutdown, travel restrictions from public agencies and a presumed general reluctance for travel even in the Fall of this year.
With so many unknown factors, sadly we have made the hard decision to cancel the Summit for 2020.
Please know that our entire Ed-Fi Team will sincerely miss seeing you in person and while cancelling the Summit is disappointing, we also want to leave you with a piece of uplifting news, something to look forward to:
Save the Date for Technical Congress 2021!
We are hopeful and excited to reconvene with our Community in-person in April of next year. It will be here before we know it, and until then we will continue to work to engage you and newcomers to Ed-Fi that need interoperability now more than ever-precisely because of the strain on our education systems.
