One of the things I enjoy most about my work at the Ed-Fi Alliance is having the opportunity to hit the road and meet with community members – both new and longstanding – to see firsthand the work that’s being done out in the field. I just got back from a string of trips and wanted to share a “Road Show Report,” outlining a few exciting updates.
- First, I’d like to extend a big welcome to Rhode Island, the 28th state to license Ed-Fi. We are happy to have you as part of the community, and look forward to working together to support your vision of using Ed-Fi to empower personalized learning initiatives across your state.
- Next, Oregon is making great strides towards designing and articulating a model that provides rich data to benefit LEAs, ESDs, and the SEA. I recently met with Oregon’s Department of Education and its Data Leadership Committee, as well as technology leaders from school districts and education service districts, to support this growing collaboration and their collective vision for data exchange.
- Our friends in Arizona continue to do great things with Ed-Fi, from creating significant efficiencies and cost savings in data collection processes at the state level to their project planning and progress in migrating their state systems and 664 school districts to version 2.1 of the Ed-Fi ODS/API. There is also an emerging district implementation underway in Tucson USD.
- I also witnessed some significant growth measures from our licensees including Michigan’s Data Hubs projects having tripled the number of districts it’s brought onboard, and FL CODE – the consortium supported by regional service center NEFEC in Florida – is hosting its own Summit at the beginning of February to continue its outreach to other Florida districts.
The Ed-Fi Community continues to grow, both in membership and in innovation, leaving me constantly inspired by how our members use Ed-Fi technology to advance K-12 education. I look forward to getting out on the road again in the New Year and meeting with even more of you.
